I Couldn’t Find a Proper Supercar API. So I Built One.
When I started building my project, one of the first challenges was finding a supercar database that could serve as the foundation for everything. I needed a basic catalog of supercars and hypercars that I could connect parts, services, technical documentation, and basically all other data to. I went through every automotive catalog API provider I could find, but none of them had the complete picture. Some had Porsche, some had Bentley, and some even had a few Lamborghini models — mostly because they’re all part of VAG, where vehicle data is more standardized.
After hitting a dead end, I realized I wasn’t going to find a ready-made database and would have to build one myself. I decided to start with a database from a popular classifieds website (around 300 entries) and expand it from there. In the end, I had to completely rework that database too, digging through tons of catalogs, websites, and technical documentation. AI couldn’t handle this job. It doesn’t really care which transmission goes into which car or what platform code a particular model uses. It can only collect basic information.
So, what have I built so far? 42 manufacturers, 390 models, and 1,500 variants. This includes the most popular brands as well as what I’d call the second tier — manufacturers that are less familiar to the general public. I include both road-going and racing variants. I add new data every week, based on industry news and information coming into our platform. For example, when new parts appear on the site but the corresponding vehicle model isn’t in the database yet.

What kind of data does the catalog include? Make, model, variant, platform code, detailed engine specifications, drivetrain, transmission, hybrid powertrain information, and more. It’s easier to see everything yourself: https://supercarsapi.com/

So, what can you use it for? If your business is related to supercars and you run a website selling services, products, vehicles, or anything else in this industry, you can use this API to build a properly structured vehicle database.

We’re also finishing the processing and integration of OEM parts catalogs, which will become part of this API as well. You’ll be able to look up OEM part numbers, view parts diagrams, and access related technical information.

So, if your business has anything to do with exotic cars, this database might be useful to you.

Has anyone here ever looked for a similar solution for their website?
